Debating, Part 2
The Roßleben School community can draw upon a rich tradition of promoting ideas of integrity and societal tolerance through action. In this changing world, it is ever more prescient that students continue to test themselves. In the face of challenging concepts, students must define, defend, and develop their views.
As a result of our continuing cooperation with the University of Cambridge, our students can attend and participate in live debates from the Cambridge Union.
The motion before us last week dealt with the challenges, problems and conceptual framework surrounding freedom of speech. During the debate, a lively and insightful discussion ensued where students freely shared their views. Many students found consensus during the evening. They identified a moving landscape of societal norms in our modern world. Our students advocate that the best forms of citizenship involve a demeanour that is receptive to communication and moderate in reaction.
